WCIT Charity and AI4C

AI4C was created by the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists Charity as an AI/ML Learning Exchange to collaboratively collect and share best practice in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology area for the benefit of the charity sector.

 

In October 2018 the WCIT Charity announced that two charities, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and Missing People, had jointly won the WCIT Charity IT Award 2018. Each received a grant of £300,000 as a result of their win.
In addition to the grants, the WCIT Charity initiated the set-up of an AI/ML Learning Exchange to provide further support to the winning charities and any others using AI/ML – and so AI4C was born.

 

The WCIT Charity’s mission is to use IT skills to make a difference. In its brief 25-year history it has achieved a huge amount, including the spin-off of two independent charities – the Charity IT Association and Lifelites – endowing a new school in Hammersmith, and supporting hundreds of individual causes through grants of almost £4m.
